About Sidestream

Generally, CO2 measurement is divided into mainstream and sidestream. The fundamental difference between mainstream and sidestream is whether the gas is shunted from the patient's airway for analysis. The mainstream is non-shunt, and the mainstream CO2 sensor analyzes the gas directly on the ventilation catheter; the sidestream has a shunt, and the CO2 sidestream module needs to extract the gas that the patient breathes for sampling and analysis, and the gas can be sampled from the nostril or from the Gas is sampled on the ventilation tube. The sidestream is to pump part of the gas through the sampling tube to the sidestream CO2 analysis module to analyze the capnogram and report the end-tidal carbon dioxide concentration.
