Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) use M asimo circuit boards to enable non-invasive M asimo SET® Measure-Through Motion and Low Perfusion™ pulse oximetry and rainbow® pulse co-oximetry measurements in their own devices doctors and patient monitors. Previously, an average of 550 milliwatts of power was required to activate the powerful non-invasive measurement capabilities of rainbow® pulse CO-oximetry. The reduced power consumption of the new MX-5 circuit varies on average between 250 and 320 milliwatts of power, depending on the measured Rainbow parameters. This approximately 50% reduction in power consumption is expected to facilitate integration into next-generation patient monitoring solutions that require more efficient power profiles to enable smaller, lighter, and more portable battery-powered devices.

In addition to lower power requirements compared to previous Rainbow® technology boards, the MX-5 adds dynamic power handling to scale the MX-5's power consumption based on a combination of controlled parameters to provide even longer battery life. For example, when only M asimo SET® monitors SpO2 and heart rate, the average power consumption of the MX-5 is reduced by more than 75% compared to the previous Rainbow® technology card. M asimo MX-5 cards are 2" x 2.5" the same size as the previous MX-3 and offer easy replacement.
